Move your site to Joybird

Already have a website on Wix, Squarespace or somewhere else? Give Joybird its web address and Joybird copies your pages across, keeping your words and pictures. You can then edit everything in Joybird.

Your old site is not changed in any way.

Before you start

You need the web address of your current site. The site must be live, and anyone must be able to view it without a password.

Import the site

1. On the New site screen, click the Import from an existing site tab.
2. Type the address in the box, for example yourbusiness.com.

3. Click Find pages. The button says Looking for pages… while Joybird searches your site.
4. Joybird shows the pages it found. Untick any you do not want to bring across. Your home page is always included.
5. Click the Import button. It shows how many pages you picked, for example Import 5 pages.
6. Wait while the screen says Importing your site. Joybird’s AI rebuilds each page, so this takes a few minutes. The screen shows roughly how long.
7. When it finishes, click Open your site.

Joybird may not be able to bring across every page. If any are left out, it tells you how many. Some sites ask automated tools not to copy certain pages, and Joybird respects that. You can add any missing pages yourself later.

What you get

• Your pages, saved as drafts. No one else can see them yet.
• Your colours and fonts, listed under Colours and fonts.
• Your words and pictures.

Open each page and check it. Fix anything that does not look right, then publish it.

Import pages again

Joybird’s importer keeps improving. When a newer version is available, a panel on your site screen offers to import your pages again.

Be careful with pages you have already changed. They are marked Edited since import, and importing them again replaces your changes. Joybird warns you before it does this.

You can also choose to rebuild your header and footer (the menu and links shown on every page). This also replaces any changes you made to them.

Switch your domain over

When your pages look right, connect your domain. Visitors who type your web address then see your new Joybird site.
